- How does annual billing work?
- Annual plans are billed once per year at roughly a 25% discount — about three months free compared with paying monthly.
- What is the fastest check interval?
- Intervals are tiered: 60s on Free, 30s on Pro, 5s on Business, and true 1-second checks on Enterprise. Instatus floors at 30 seconds.
- How is PingInsight different from Instatus?
- PingInsight matches Instatus feature-for-feature on status pages and incident management, but adds true second-by-second checks with exact-second outage timelines that Instatus cannot match.
- Can I change plans later?
- Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time; changes take effect immediately and billing is prorated.
- What counts as a monitor?
- Each thing you watch is one monitor — a URL or API endpoint, host, TCP/UDP port, DNS record, SSL certificate, domain, mailbox, or an inbound heartbeat/cron check. Your plan's monitor limit (15 on Free, 50 on Pro, 1,000 on Business) is how many you can run at once.
- Do faster checks or extra alerts cost more?
- No. Your check interval and all 11 alert channels are included in your plan — there are no per-check or per-alert fees. You only move up a tier for a faster interval or higher limits, never to unlock a channel.
- What happens to my data if I downgrade?
- Downgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. Raw check data is kept for 7 days; rolled-up history is retained 365 days on Pro, 730 days on Business, and 1,095 days on Enterprise, so changing tiers adjusts how far back your aggregated history goes.
- How do refunds and proration work?
- Plan changes are prorated automatically, so you're credited for unused time when you upgrade or downgrade and only pay for what you use. For specific billing or refund requests, contact support.
