One platform, every check

Everything Instatus does — plus the 1-second moat.

Monitoring, status pages, and incident management in one platform, built on a true second-by-second engine.

Coverage

All the check types

All check types are available on every plan, including the free tier — plans differ on interval and limits, not coverage.

  • HTTP(S) with assertionsValidate status code, body text, JSON fields, headers, and a latency ceiling — not just that it returned 200.
  • API / JSON checksAssert on specific JSON fields so a degraded-but-up endpoint still trips the alert.
  • Ping / ICMPConfirm a host is reachable at the network layer and measure round-trip latency.
  • TCP portOpen a connection to a port to prove a service like a database or broker is accepting connections.
  • UDP portProbe connectionless services such as game servers, VPN endpoints, or syslog.
  • DNS recordsResolve records and verify the answer matches what you expect, catching misconfiguration or hijacks.
  • SSL certificate expiryWatch the served certificate and warn you well before it expires.
  • Domain / WHOIS expiryTrack domain registration expiry so a lapsed renewal never takes you offline.
  • SMTP / IMAP / POP3 mailMonitor outbound send, mailbox sync, and legacy retrieval across all three mail protocols.
  • SSHVerify servers and bastions are accepting secure shell connections.
  • NTP (time / clock offset)Measure clock drift so time skew never silently breaks auth, certificates, or scheduled jobs.
  • Heartbeat / cronYour job pings us on a schedule; a missed ping alerts you — ideal for backups and ETL.
  • Group / aggregate checksRoll several monitors into one health signal for a multi-part service or status-page component.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What can PingInsight monitor?
Fourteen check types: HTTP/API with assertions, ping/ICMP, TCP, UDP, DNS, SSL certificate expiry, domain/WHOIS expiry, SMTP, IMAP and POP3 mail, SSH, NTP clock offset, heartbeat/cron, and group/aggregate checks.
What's the fastest check interval?
One second. Intervals are set per monitor and scale with your plan: Free every 60 seconds, Pro every 30 seconds, Business every 5 seconds, and Enterprise every 1 second.
Do you check from multiple regions?
Yes. Checks run from three live regions — us-east-2 (Ohio), us-west-2 (Oregon), and eu-west-1 (Ireland) — and an outage is confirmed by multi-location quorum plus a consecutive-failure threshold to avoid false alarms.
Which checks are on the free plan?
All check types are available on every plan, including Free. Plans differ on check interval, monitor count, and advanced features — see pricing for the full tier matrix.
